TV: ABC

Down in Miami Gardens at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will be matching up with the Miami Hurricanes in college football action.

Georgia Tech is 3-1 on the year following a one-point loss to Tennessee, a win over Jacksonville State, a canceled game versus UCF and two wins over Pittsburgh and North Carolina. In that Tar Heels game, Georgia Tech QB TaQuon Marshall threw for 53 yards and a TD while also leading the rush on 27 carries, 137 yards and one TD.

So far this year, Marshall has 333 yards passing with four touchdowns and is also the Georgia Tech rushing leader with 102 carries, 523 yards and nine scores. Ricky Jeune is the lead Yellow Jackets receiver with 10 catches for 171 yards and three touchdowns.

Over on the Hurricanes’ side, they’re 4-0 so far with wins over Bethune-Cookman, Toledo, Duke and Florida State (and one canceled outing versus Arkansas State). In that Seminoles game, Miami QB Malik Rosier went 19-of-44 for 254 yards, three scores and one pick, while Braxton Berrios collected most of the work on eight catches, 90 yards and two touchdowns.

On the season, Rosier has 1074 yards, 11 touchdowns and three picks, while Mark Walton is the top Hurricanes rusher from 56 carries, 428 yards and three touchdowns. Berrios is the leading Miami receiver on 18 catches, 282 yards and five scores.

The Yellow Jackets are 4-0 ATS in their last four conference games and 6-0 ATS in the last six games following an ATS win. Georgia Tech is also 8-0 ATS in their last eight games overall and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six road games.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes are 6-0 ATS in their last six conference games and 4-0 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Miami is also 8-1 ATS in their last nine games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.

If you remove Jeune from the equation, the Jackets have no receiver with more than three receptions or 61 yards; their passing game is something of an afterthought. Still, Georgia Tech has controlled things well with at least 33 points scored and no more than 17 points allowed in their three wins. As for Miami, they like to run as well (6.4 YPC average as a team), but are also a lot more balanced as an offense. This should be a fun game to watch, and it will feature a lot of good rushing and defensive play. I’m going to go with Miami to eke out a cover here, but the under probably makes the most sense.
